Frequently Asked Questions
Your therapist will be happy to answer any questions you may have prior to starting your massage.
Will massage fix all types of pain?
Therapeutic massage primarily treats musculoskeletal pain. It is in no way intended to replace care from your physician. Massage therapists are allowed to make recommendations for self care as well as for supplements, but are in no way allowed to prescribe. Each individual responds differently to massage and therefore some people may receive more benefit than others. But massage has many health benefits, particularly when received on a regular basis.
How many massages will I need?
If you are receiving massage therapy for a specific problem area, there are many factors which will contribute to the outcome of your treatments. For optimal health benefits, massage should be received on a regular basis.
What kind of massage to ask for?
When receiving therapeutic massage from a licensed professional, your therapist should communicate with you about your therapeutic needs and expectations prior to starting the treatment. This is referred to as client intake.
Which massage therapy is best?
At Corey Proffitt Studios Massage our goal is to create a massage that is just for you at every appointment. We know your body’s needs will change and so we make sure your massage therapy treatments evolve to accommodate what your body needs that day.
Here you will find a wide variety of massage therapy and therapeutic bodywork treatments available for your specific needs. If you are unsure which treatment is best for you, we recommend the Signature Therapeutic session when booking online or with the receptionist. This is our most popular treatment because it is a blend of all of our best modalities. Once you arrive for your appointment we can go over your specific health concerns and choose the best treatment option for you. Check out the Massage Services Menu for more details about your options.
We offer many different types of massage including Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Lomi Lomi Hawaiian Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Prenatal Massage, Sports Massage, kneading and Reflexology. Blending these techniques helps to ease muscular discomfort brought on by everyday life, and stress. Your therapist will be happy to answer any questions you may have prior to starting your massage.
Health Benefits from Massages
Now, let’s talk more in detail about the health benefits that are in store for you. Receiving therapeutic massage on a regular basis will likely make you feel better and improve your overall health. It can be the perfect way to relieve that tension in your shoulders from stress or spending too much time at the computer. Massages can increase your blood circulation, boost your immune system by increasing lymphatic circulation, promote healthier digestion, and help lower and stabilize blood pressure. While massage also keeps your muscle tissue healthier, it is also likely that you will feel better emotionally and get better sleep. These are only a few examples of the benefits you may experience. Bodywork is also a great way to manage pain.
Massage benefits may include, but are not limited to:
Stress reduction
Better sleep
Healthier muscle tissue
Healthier skin
Better range of motion
Decreased pain and inflammation
We consider it a great privilege to be a part of your health and look forward to helping you maintain a balance of mental and physical health.
